Troubleshooting Material Jams – Stratasys F123 Series

If your Stratasys F123 Series 3D printer is experiencing a material jam, follow the steps below to inspect and clear the material path.

๐Ÿ”ง Step 1: Unload Material from the Print Head

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to the Materials page.
  2. Tap the head icon (not the material bay icon) to open the Head Details screen.
  3. Tap Enable to enter the Head Maintenance Menu.
  1. Press Unload Head. The system will heat the head and attempt to retract the material. This may take several minutes.

๐Ÿ” Step 2: Inspect the Material Path

  1. Power off the printer and open the top lid to access internal components.
  2. Disconnect the material tube from the top of the head.
  1. Check for material stuck in the print head.
  2. If material is jammed, remove it manually once the head is at temperature. Use caution and appropriate tools if needed.
  3. At the back of the printer, locate the two Y-blocks. Disconnect the tubes and inspect for any blockage.
  1. Clear any stuck filament using needle-nose pliers or similar tools.

โœ… Step 3: Test the Path and Reload Material

  1. Manually feed some filament from the material bay toward the print head with the tube disconnected at the head to ensure the path is clear.
  2. Reconnect all tubes securely.
  3. On the printer touchscreen, return to the Materials page.
  4. Tap the material bay icon for the appropriate material.
  5. Press Load and allow the printer to feed the material into the head.
